McGuinty Government Proposes New Rules For Novice Drivers And Tougher Laws For Drinking And Suspended Drivers
To prevent tragedies on our roads, the McGuinty government has introduced legislation and regulations that, if passed, would better prepare our young and novice drivers to drive safely, and would tackle dangerous driving behaviours, such as driving drunk and driving with a suspended licence.

McGuinty Government Proposes Ban On Hand-held Devices While Driving
Ontario is proposing a ban on the use of hand-held electronic devices to talk, text message, email, dial, play games or watch videos while driving. Under a bill to be introduced this afternoon, police would be able to charge drivers who use a hand-held communication or electronic entertainment device while driving.

Rapid Replacement of the Clyde Avenue Bridge on Highway 417 (the Ottawa Queensway) completed in 15 hours
For the second time in Ontario, two bridges on a freeway were replaced using rapid bridge replacement technology (Self Propelled Modular Transporters - SPMT's) during the August 2008 long weekend. A section of Highway 417 (the Ottawa Queensway) was closed on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 6:00 pm; then re-opened 15 hours later with new bridges in place over Clyde Avenue. More...
